Program Title: Developing a Lean Supply Chain:
Maximizing Value and Minimizing Waste from
Prefabrication through Site Installation

Program Abstract:
During the preconstruction planning effort on the CPR program, a cross-functional group investigated how to develop a lean supply chain and manage site logistics based upon lean principles. Members of this team will present their findings and highlights of the plan they recommended for implementing a lean supply chain and site logistics.
Questions this team addressed included:
1. How do you evaluate potential trade partners and suppliers to assess their readiness
to deliver on a lean basis?
2. How do you develop standard workflows to support material deliveries to a
construction site?
3. What role is there for Third Party Logistics companies in kitting and managing
materials?
4. How do you minimize inventory, eliminate multiple moves, and assure you have
the right materials, at the right location, at the right time?
5. How do you implement an electronic Inventory Management System that can
make "procure to pay" a reality?
